Evidence Synthesis Review Types

What is a rapid review?

Like a systematic review, the rapid review summarizes the findings of multiple studies with the goal of answering a question. However, the rapid review simplifies the methods to speed up the production process. Rapid reviews use a systematic process and require detailed reporting on changes made to the standard systematic review methodology.1

Why would you do a rapid review?

  • Limited time frame
  • Fewer than 3 people to screen and extract data
  • Able to search at least 2 databases
  • Plan to limit grey literature and supplemental searches
