Search for course “tile” on page screen, Type in ISBN and click ‘Add +’
This process can be repeated multiple times for courses with several textbooks.
Only click “I have no materials to adopt for this course” if students will not be required to have a book for class.
Select ‘Adopt Selected Items’ when you are ready to submit
Once a title is added you can click on the ‘Submitted Adoptions’ Tab. From this page you can:
Change book from required to recommended (select the view button to edit)
Remove it from the adoptions list
Add additional materials
All courses have textbooks bundled together for all sections by default. This can be changed:
Click “Adopt by Section” to select different books for each section
Click “Adopt by Course” to go back to selecting books for the course as a whole.
For courses where sections share a single overarching textbook but have additional books unique to each section:
Enter the Shared book FIRST, and then click “manage by section.”
The Shared textbook will appear in each section and then you can add unique textbooks to each individual section.
Click on the course “tile” to view all adoptions and add any additional supplies or notes to students or books without ISBNs (like a custom pro-copy book)
PLEASE NOTE:
The first time around the System will not remember materials selected for courses in the past since this is the first time using the new system. However, it will remember this information moving forward.
Click the “SHARE” button at the top of the page to email yourself or others your adoption information. This will allow you to select the course information you would like to share and email it to whomever you choose.
If faculty are completing their own adoptions, they will have access to the adoption website through Canvas. They will not need a login created for them as it will be pulled from Canvas. When they click on their course, the link will be on the left hand side of the page. Please remind faculty to allow for pop ups in the web browser if they are adopting textbooks themselves.
Regarding new book editions, the system will not notify you about these. However, Catherine will inform you.
